ECE Department MS Graduate
Teaching Assistantship Scholarships
(for continuing PSU BS EE and BS CMPE students)

What?
The ECE Department is awarding Teaching Assistantship scholarships to graduating or recently graduated ECE seniors. This position offers a comprehensive experience engaging the TA in activities that are meaningful and relevant to their intellectual and professional development as well as making a significant difference in the educational environment of other students. Each year 3 to 5 scholarships will be awarded. Scholarships consist of an academic-year-long Teaching Assistantship (TA) that covers tuition for 9 credits per term and a salary stipend of $1,865 per term.  An additional $1,000 stipend for the entire year is also provided. Recipients of the scholarship will be assigned a specific teaching assignment at the beginning of each quarter and must be enrolled full-time in the MS program. If the recipient shows an excellent performance during the first year of the scholarship, the department may extend the scholarship until the student completes his or her MS degree, but no longer than two years total. 

Who?
Students who have graduated during the last two academic years (2006-2007, 2007-2008), with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering from PSU are eligible for this Scholarship. Students who are scheduled to graduate either in Spring 2008 or Summer 2008 term are also eligible. All applicants must apply to the ECE MS graduate program and be unconditionally accepted by both the department and university. MEng students are not eligible. An excellent academic performance well beyond the minimum required for admission is expected.

How?
Applicants must submit a scholarship application form by April 18th.  In addition, two formal recommendation letters must be submit to the ECE department office by April 25th.  At least one of the recommendation letters must be from PSU’s ECE Department faculty. The references should address why the student should be awarded the scholarship and the likelihood of future academic success, including the research potential. References should specially comment on candidate’s suitability to be a Teaching Assistant. The recommendation letters should be delivered by the references directly to the department no later than April 25th.
