  8. The successful Electrical Technician candidate must be skilled in some combination of the following disciplines; Reading electrical schematics and wiring of automated machinery. Electrical trouble shooting. Electrical / controls design. AB PLC or Adept Robot programming.
  9. Topic: Telerobotics, Academic: Mr Gordon Lowe, Student: Mr Terry Kerr, Research Goals: Develop a Java interface to support control of the Adept robot in World and Joint co-ordinates over the World Wide Web. On completion a single user (at any time) will be able to specify the type, size and direction of motion under direct continuous control. Methods: The Adept robot can communicate via a serial cable using Digital Data Communications Message Protocol (DDCMP). A copy of this protocol will have to be obtained (public) and implemented.

Professor Goldberg from IEOR Berkeley has developed a similar robot over the web and has provided us with a copy of their script for V++ commands to serial connection. This script will have to be implemented and made operable by the student.
