OUR ROBOTS



Currently we have the following robots in the laboratory. This list is not complete. Please help me to complete it, RAS people and Martin. Please give names to all robots and put labels on them.

Industrial Robots
  1. Seiko robot with experimental setup by Chris Brawn.
  2. Adept robot.

Walking Robots
  1. Giant Hexapod. Missing.
  2. Hexapod Hexor. From Stenzel Corporation, Gliwice, Poland. Claws designed at PSU by Jake Biamonte.
  3. Yellow Hexapod. From Lynxmotion Corporation. 12 servos.
  4. Yellow Hexapod. From Lynxmotion Corporation. 12 servos.
  5. White Hexapod Hexo. Voice controlled using FPAA from Lattice Corporation. PSU built. Sponsored by Lattice Corporation. 12 servos.
  6. Transparent Hexapod. PSU built. 12 servos. (on display in Computer Science Department).
  7. Eight two-servo radio-controlled soccer robots. 2 servos each. (one on display in Portland International Airport, one in possession of Doug Hall for project).
  8. Two-servo hexapod built by Karl Kuchs.
  9. Walking legs (on display in Computer Science Department).

Mobile Robots.
  1. Historic Hero robot from year 1983. The first robot in the lab.
  2. PSUBOT. Intelligent wheelchair. First large robot built in the lab. Built in years 1990-1994 by Kevin Stanton and team.
  3. Stair-climbing assistive cart.
  4. PEOPLEBOT (Pioneer). Purchased in 2000. Modified in 2004 by PSU students.
  5. Three-wheeled big wheel robot by Karl Kuchs.
  6. Several wheeled robots from "Robot Colony" by Karl Kuchs.
  7. Little crane by Lynxmotion.
  8. Little cart with claws by Lynxmotion.
  9. Two-wheeled robot with FPGA-Evolvable Hardware control. Programmed in VHDL.


Robot Arms.
  1. Historic Rhino robot from year 1987. The second robot in the lab. With the conveyor belt and additional desks.
  2. High-school student built arm with electro-hydraulic control.
  3. Didactic robot arm from 1982 together with hand-prosthetic controller (stolen by students).
  4. About 23 OWI arms. About 6 interfaces to PCs for them.
  5. The pneumatic hand of Bryce Tucker.

  1. Full Humanoid Robot: Sonbi the Confucian Scholar - by "the Germans" (Stefan Gebauer and group) - in Korea.
  2. Full Humanoid Robot: Paekchong the bad butcher by Kyle Reid - in Korea.
  3. Pieces of Full Humanoid Robot: Pune - the curtisane - in Korea.
  4. Head: Yangban - in Korea.
